Shadow A Student Day

Today I lived through a (half) day of Junior High. It was the annual Shadow a Student Day at the Middle School where three fourths of my children attend. I spent most of the day with the youngest of the three, attending 7th grade Social Studies, Science, Girl's Choir and Language Arts and Gym. Then I went to Student Council with Courtney. Devon didn't really want me around. Can't say that I blame him.

I did learn a few things:

  • I don't think I could make it through a whole day of Junior High again. 30 minute class times on this special schedule were just about all I could take. I came home and took a nap.
  • Junior High gives me a headache.
  • There is a huge range of boys in the 7th grade; those who wear too much cologne, those who don't shower, those who look like they should be in 2nd grade and those who look like they should be in 12th grade.
  • Some Junior High boys are not afraid to say sexist remarks to girls right in front of their moms.
  • When did the teachers get so young? When I was in Junior High, all of my teachers were ancient.

At least I did not have a repeat of last year. Junior High is embarrassing enough!

Junior High ooh what fun. I totally agree with all the things you learned. Teachers were definitely older.
And as for those boys who look way too old, they scare me.
Chase would hate a day like this at his school - I guess he should be glad they don't have one.
I bet the girls enjoyed it.

Oh golly. I'm not ever going to go back to Junior High. Nobody can make me.

How fun! At least your girls didn't mind you tagging along! Yes, I have noticed the teachers are SO young even at the elementary schools. Sierrah's teacher this year is fresh out of ASU!

You couldn't pay me to go back to JR High. NEVER. I actually let Victoria stay home because I couldn't go and she "was so sad". Right. ;)

Jr. High was my hardest years, I hated it, I would never want to repeat it.

I'm sure your girls loved having you there :)
I hear you on the teachers, both my boys have very young teachers.

I enjoyed your lesson Sunday, I didn't get a chance to tell you that. I think you are a FABULOUS teacher and a spiritual GIANT.

I wish we had a shadow jr high day--although Jordyn is probably glad we don't.
