Book Tag

I just got an e-mail with the cutest meme. It is only one question. So instead of answering the e-mail and forwarding it to all of my friends and having them send it back and then forward it to all of their friends... I am doing it here on my blog.

The e-mail read:

Open the nearest book (or book you are currently reading), turn to page 123 and copy the 5th complete sentence.

So here it goes:

"She was skeptical, because she knew the tricks the mind coud play - at the same time, her mind was - in every sense - where she was to spend the evening, and she had to be at ease with herself." - ATONEMENT by Ian McEwan

Now leave me a comment with yours!

I mean it! Go do it! Grab a book!

"She was a spinner of yarns, wasn't she? A story teller. A fabulist. A liar. And, the plea that had so moved me- Tell me the truth- Had been uttered by a man who was not even real."
-THE THIRTEENTH TALE by Diane Setterfield

..ok so I added a couple extra sentences. I love this!

DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD by Rebecca Wells

I read the "pooty" part last night and that was so funny. I was being so good though I didn't shake the bed. :)

"Her form letter offered three boxes to check, suggesting the alternatives: (1)Yes, wild horses couldn't keep me away from a concert in Anaheim! (2) No, I am much too dignified to do such a foolish thing. (3) I might have to wash my hair that night; talk me into it."

(From HIGH TIDE IN TUCSON by Barbara Kingsolver, on how she ended up in a rock band with some fellow authors including Dave Barry, Stephen King and Amy Tan.)

No fair picking McEwen; every sentence sounds like poetry.

"We are limited. But we can push back the borders of our limitations." (from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven R. Covey--give me a break - I'm in DH's office and limited to sports, boring novels, or "becoming financially sound" type books).

"But Jimmie was too young then to be involved in something like that."
The Mulberry Tree by Jude Deveraux

I love that shelfari website. I have looked through it finding everyone's favs. I am not much of a reader but love to find a good book. I recently finished the twilight series and like those. Thought I would give this author a try. Saw her on your list.

"This mention seemed almost to suck the air out of the room. It was as though everyone stopped breathing for a moment, their minds too interested in what Avi had just said to bother with the mundane details of moment-to-moment living." The Anatomy of Peace by the Arbinger Institute. This is a self-help book written in story form so it is an easy, enjoyable read but still teaches important principles.
